I’m slowly becoming a linen spray junkie. I love to add a spritz (with Lavender) on my pillow before I hit the hay. It’s so soothing. What better way to say “I appreciate you” than with this DIY linen spray idea?  Use it to freshen up your sheets, towels, or anywhere else that’s kinda stinky. The scent possibilities are endless. Some of my favorites are Lavender, Peace & Calming, Roman Chamomile, and Purification. Learn how to make it here and buy pretty glass spritzer bottles to fill with your linen spray here.

How cute are these?! Set of 20 wood slice tags (each is 2-2.5 inch diameter). Perfect for a gift tag or ornament. Add a few drops of white fir or douglas fir essential oil and even your artificial tree will smell like it was just cut fresh from the Christmas tree farm. Add a couple more drops of essential oil every few days as needed. These look great left natural or you can on them or wood burn them with a message or fun design.  Find instructions from Design Mom here on how to make wood-slice ornaments
This is a classic spray that makes your laundry smell uh-mazing and helps to support well-being. Once your clothes come out of dryer or cloth’s line, spray your sheets liberally. Because Lavender essential oil is gentle, this is safe to use on your children’s sheets before bedtime. You could also use this as a soothing body spray or perfume (replace the distilled water with a light carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil.)
If you’re anything like me, you’ve got a great stash of essential oils and are always looking for ways to use them. With the holidays coming up, I decided to make a bunch of DIY essential oil recipes to share with family and friends. Let me just tell you how much money this is going to save me! Woot! Plus, I love the idea of giving loved ones healthy, non-toxic products that they can use as toiletries or in their home. (For more natural gift ideas, check out this post.)

So if you are like me and want to be frugal in your gift giving but really want to share something that can be helpful to a friend or loved one, I know you will love this post with some homemade gifts using essential oils. You know I am not a big DIYer and really stretch myself when I do, but I have found when I take the time to make gifts myself they mean more to me and I know they are loved by those receiving the gifts.
No time for baths, but love the aromatherapy benefits of bath bombs? Try shower melts!  They’re a great way to add aromatherapy to your shower!  Shower steamers are really very easy to make and only take a few ingredients.  The basic recipe is 1 cup baking soda , 1/3 cup distilled water, and 25 drops essential oil.  Yep, the recipe is very simple.  I think the really fun part is choosing which fun shape you want to make and which essential oil blends to use.  Find instructions here
Mamas, it’s standard operating procedure that when our littles get sick, we don’t sleep. Right? Especially when that illness is accompanied by a cough that won’t quit. Growing up, Vicks VapoRub was a staple in our medicine cabinet, but that goop is loaded with toxic chemicals. The good news is there’s always a natural alternative to just about every malady your little might encounter. This rub is no exception. It’s made with Cypress and Lavender essential oils create a safe, soothing blend that will help your young guns to relax and promote sleep, and makes a great gift for the mamas in your life. TRUST ME – they will thank you when (not if!) the time comes and they’re dying for some shut-eye! Get the recipe here.

So then, where is the recipe credit on this site?! These recipes are NOT rocket science- the base of the ingredients are the base of all EO recipes. From there, all you have to know is the uses of each oil. For the most part anything skin and hair are Pete and Repeat over and over. Unless someone comes up with some magical new recipe on their own the credit is not theirs. These are ancient oils and recipes forgotten by the population and traded for easy, pretty, and sometimes “better” fragrances. The issue is the chemicals are TOXIC. So, if anyone needs to credit or cite you could start looking in B.C. time. I’m not sure they used A.P.A.

The smell of fresh laundry is amazing, but many times loaded with synthetic fragrances and chemicals that can wreak havoc on your skin and health. Make your own laundry detergent this holiday season with essential oils and share with your loved ones! Nothing says “I love you” like laundry detergent, right? I kid, I kid, buuut…some people dig these kinds of gifts. I’m one such person, but I’m not the definition of normal – just ask my darling husband. Favorite Household Oils: Purification, Lemon, and Citrus Fresh are household ROCKSTARS. Yes, they smell as good as the names imply and have so many great uses. We use lemon oil to get stickers and labels off in seconds flat, and diffuse it with lavender for a spa-like scent. Purification gets rid of stinky odors– everything from animals to stinky shoes to laundry that’s been in the washer too long (oops)! Citrus Fresh does all of the above and is also heavenly to diffuse.
One of my favorite ways to use essential oils is around my home– to clean, cook with, and make my home smell like a spa. Which got me thinking about what I’d give to someone who is moving to a new home.  It’s hard to put together the perfect housewarming gift these days: food is fun but with all the various special diets out there it can be tricky; candles are pretty but hello allergies; soaps and cleaners are handy but yikes, chemicals! Don’t worry, I’ve got your back– here’s an allergy friendly, useful, and chemical free gift basket idea for the ultimate housewarming gift!
Just off-hand, though, peppermint, lavender, and frankincense are often recommended for headaches. Other oils that can help with congestion are rosemary and eucalyptus, but these should not be used with children under the age of 5 nor with pregnant mamas. The migraine recipe noted below likely would help with a sinus headache but some people might find the addition of rosemary or eucalyptus might help relieve some of the congestion faster.
Recently purchased this product and am going to buy one for each of my daughters. It is easy to use and is very quiet. Makes my bedroom smell great and the lights can be used or not. My husband and I use [[ASIN:B01MF7E0ME Lunexa – All Natural Daily Sleep Formula for Deep Relaxing Sleep and Stress Relief]] after a stressful day. The diffusers provide a calm environment for relaxation. We took them to our doctor and he said they were safe for us to take every day. We take them about an hour or so before we are ready to go to bed. The one thing is when you start to feel tired do not fight them just go to bed.
