One of my favorite ways to use essential oils is around my home– to clean, cook with, and make my home smell like a spa. Which got me thinking about what I’d give to someone who is moving to a new home. It’s hard to put together the perfect housewarming gift these days: food is fun but with all the various special diets out there it can be tricky; candles are pretty but hello allergies; soaps and cleaners are handy but yikes, chemicals! Don’t worry, I’ve got your back– here’s an allergy friendly, useful, and chemical free gift basket idea for the ultimate housewarming gift!
Hi there! The reason that you need to use dark bottles is because of the Essential Oils that go into the recipes. Essential Oils are AMAZING, but really sensitive to light. Using a dark colored glass bottle or jar is what helps to keep them safe. If you do use something that is clear make sure to store it in a cool, dry, and dark place so that it isn’t heated and definitely no direct sunlight! Also, if you use plastic the essential oils will eventually eat away at the plastic because they are potent. When I use a plastic container I only use it once. So this year, I’m inspired to DIY much of my holiday gift-giving using one of my favorite things – essential oils! Not just any essential oils though – 100% pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils. I’ve been slightly obsessed with essential oils this year (and reusing essential oil bottles), so naturally, compiling my list of DIY holiday gift inspiration included lots of oily goodness.
Inside our basket we included Nature’s Truth Essential Oils, a pair of fuzzy socks (who doesn’t love fuzzy socks!?), DIY Homemade Bath Bombs, DIY Homemade Room Spray, and DIY No-Sew Rice Heating Pack. Everyone always wants to make sure that their houses look and smell amazing for company, so we bust our butts cleaning every last detail and cooking food for 3x the amount of people we invited. While the get together goes off without a hitch and no one realized that you completely forgot to scrub an entire section of the baseboards in the kitchen, you melt into a puddle of exhaustion the second you close the door behind the last guest. This type of exhaustion needs pampering and that’s exactly why this is the perfect hostess gift.
Measure your salt and pour into a large glass bowl. Add your olive oil and mix well with a metal spoon. Add your essential oils and continue to stir your mixture. Slowly scoop into your glass pot. Close tightly with white lid and label. Store in a cool, dark place. Scoop out a silver dollar size of scrub and apply to body. Repeat weekly. This is one of the most pampering DIY essential oil recipes 🙂
I love the packaging for this set. In addition, the variety of scents is great. I love the strong scents from each bottle although my favorite is the tea tree oil. Lavender comes in a close second. I use this product mainly for aromatherapy. I put a few drops in my oil diffuser and then on it goes...! If you’re looking for great quality and an affordable price, this product is it.
